Rescue Parenthood Part 1 - Collaboration Collection Coming Soon!

This is the first post in a series about the ins and outs of rescue parenthood.

As a proud rescue parent, I am always looking for ways to support the rescue community. Rescuing Milo & Arya has been incredibly rewarding. For those who do not already know, here are their rescue stories:

Milo

Milo was taken to a high kill shelter in Texas as a puppy with the rest of his litter. A rescue here in Colorado brought him to Denver and that is where we found him. When we first brought him home, he was really shy and unsure about the world. After several weeks at home with us, he started to come out of his shell. He has grown into a confident, determined, outgoing, and playful adult dog.

Arya

Arya was found in the woods in Texas and taken to a high kill shelter. She was heartworm positive, very malnourished, and had just had puppies (but her puppies were not found with her). A rescue here in Colorado brought her to Denver and that is how we found her. From the moment we brought her home, she and Milo were inseparable. She had to endure intensive heartworm treatment, and we worked hard on getting her healthy. Now, she seems like a completely different dog. She has a lot of energy, is confident and outgoing, and most importantly, healthy.

My passion for rescue led to me to connecting with Jess from Pupsibilities on Instagram. When I first came across her page, I saw that she shared a similar passion. Our friendship & passion for rescue inspired our new collaboration, the Pupsibilities Milo & Arya Collection releasing on Wednesday, 2/23/22 at 8pm EST. Before the launch, I wanted to introduce you all to Jess and her company and share the purpose behind our collection.

Jess, what inspired you to start Pupsibilities?

I have always been an animal lover. I grew up with animal loving parents who adopted rescue dogs and cats. There was one point where we had 4 dogs and 2 cats living in the house with us! My animal loving obsession became even greater when I became a dog mom to Chewy in 2019. Choosing to become his dog mama was the best decision I ever made. He opened up my eyes to living in the present moment, having fun, and appreciating everything and everyone in my life!

Animals are the most loving creatures. All they want is to have fun, be loved, and give love. Unfortunately, there is a lot of sadness in this world for animals… but I want to be a light for them in the world by being their voice and spreading love to them. Whether it be giving a financial donation, volunteering at a shelter, or sparking conversation with the “Be Kind To Animals” message across a sweatshirt, I am hoping to use Pupsibilities as a way to make a real impact in this world for animals.

Can you tell us more about your company's mission?

Obviously a huge part of my mission is to support no-kill animal shelters financially. They work tirelessly every single day and sacrifice so much to truly make a difference in animals’ lives. Donating 15% of profits is the least I can do to try and make their lives easier as they work so hard to help these animals.

Beyond that, I’m here to help spread love, kindness, and awareness - whether it be through a cozy, handmade sweatshirt, an inspiring pet bandana, a conversation, or a financial donation. You don’t have to be a pet owner or even a rescue owner to be a part of this mission. I truly believe that doing whatever you can in any way to make this world a better place is important. My hope is to spark conversations, to inspire, and to get people thinking about how they can make an impact for causes that they care about. It is all about small actions that lead to big results and letting the pupsibilities be your motivation and guiding force.

Why did you want to do this collection?

I am always looking for new ways to help animals & celebrate them. I have formed such an awesome friendship with Milo and Arya’s mom, Nicole, and have witnessed her like-minded passion & love for animals! I just knew it would be so much fun and so rewarding to create this collection with her. Milo & Arya are both such amazing dogs with tough pasts who now have amazing lives. They are the perfect role models & inspiration for what rescue animals can become in loving homes. I want to bring awareness to their stories while simultaneously celebrating them & other rescue animals.

Do you have a favorite piece from the collection?

The “who rescued who?” matching set is definitely my favorite. I absolutely LOVE the actual pieces and how they look. But I love the message behind it even more. In so many ways, if you let them, animals can rescue us too. I know that Chewy made me a kinder, happier, more playful, & present person. Every animal has love within them and the capacity to bring so much happiness to your life… just like we do for them.
